Imphal, March 03 2025:
Demanding that their entitled rights, as guaranteed by the government, be honoured, Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) staying at KP College relief camp in Hiyangthang thronged the office of SDC Hiyangthang on Monday and staged a protest.
On receiving news that the SDC had deleted some IDPs from receiving benefits under various government schemes, the IDPs of KP College relief camp thronged the SDC office, and raised slogans demanding their entitled rights.
In this regard, one of the IDPs conveyed that around 49 people, who had left the camp for study or work, were found scratched from the beneficiary list.
He questioned the reason for removal, while urging the Governor to address the demands of the IDPs living in relief camps at the earliest.
It may be mentioned here that most of the protesting IDPs are those who had escaped the violence in Churachandpur and Moreh town.
