Hymn competition marks HBC choir raising day

Hunphun Baptist Church (HBC) on Sunday commemorated its 58th Choir Raising Day, drawing a mammoth congregation for a vibrant celebration under the theme "Sing for Jesus" .
The day witnessed an active competition among four choir teams, all vying for top honours by performing the hymn "When we all get to Heaven" .
A total of 74 senior and 45 junior choir members showcased their talent and dedication during the event.
Speaking on the occasion, HBC Choir director Ragui Tungsa highlighted that the mission of the church choir extends beyond merely leading hymnal singing on Sundays, but as a vital Christian ministry, it is dedicated to serving the Lord through music, regardless of circumstances.
Another highlight of the celebration was the awarding of the 'Best Choir of the Year 2024-25' titles.

Yunkhui Raleng was honoured as the best senior male choir member, while Shonreiphi Shatsang received the award for best senior female.
In the junior categories, Urmathing HA was recognised as the best junior male, and Mawonyi R Shaiza as the best junior female choir member.
The celebration also showcased diverse performances, including a Masot la' (song of praise) by the HBC Board of Deacon, and a performance by Psalmist Yaimichon Kasomwoshi, a choreography from the Sunday School Staff CYS, and a musical display by Phakhami Shimray and Mathanmi Shimray.
Established in 1956, HBC holds historical significance as the second oldest church in Ukhrul district, after its mother church, Phungyo Baptist Church (PBC), the oldest in Manipur.
