Imphal, July 28 2021:
JNIMS Director Prof L Deben has categorically stated that the chances of Covid fatality is considerably lower for those who are vaccinated.
Addressing a press conference at the Administrative Block of JNIMS, today, L Deben backed his statement asserting that only 3 of the 348 people who died of COVID-19 at JNIMS were vaccinated against the disease.
Urging the people to get tested for Covid in case he/she shows any symptoms, he said that JNIMS, for the convenience of people, is giving free Covid testing facilities three days a week on Monday, Wednesday and Friday.
Deben stated that the Government alone cannot defeat the Covid pandemic without the help and support of the people.
Measures in place to arrest the virus such as lockdown and curfew will have little to no meaning if the people don't adhere to it, he added.
Saying that Covid infections continue to climb despite different measures in place, Deben sought cooperation from the people in flattening the Covid curve.
He urged the people to give their support by observing Covid appropriate behaviours such as wearing face masks, washing hands frequently and maintaining a safe distance from others.
The JNIMS Director also appealed to all to get vaccinated against COVID-19 without hesitation.
Deben also said the bed capacity for Covid patients at JNIMS will be upgraded shortly.
