Imphal, December 26 2021: A combined team of Imphal East commando, Heigang police and a column of 16 Assam Rifles arrested one cadre of a banned underground outfit from Khabam Lamkhai Auto Parking yesterday and seized 4 pistols in the follow up action.

Speaking to the media today, Imphal East SP M Pradip stated that the combined team received a tip off about the presence of some members of a banned underground outfit planning to carry out prejudicial activities at Mantripukhri area.

Based on the information, the team with assistance from 16 Assam Rifles carried out a frisking drive and search operation in different areas of Mantripukhri and Koirengei, during which the cadre was arrested, the SP said.

The arrested person has been identified as Mayengbam Amarjit Singh (44), s/o (Late) M lbocha Singh of Pangaltabi Chairen Lamkhai, Sugnu, currently staying at Langol Game Village, Zone II.

Saying that the combined team along with Amarjit rushed to the latter house and seized 4 pistols along with magazine and 43 live rounds of ammunition at around 6.40 pm, the SP said that the seized items include one 9 mm pistol (Glock) marked as '19 AUSTRIA 9 X 19, LLU916 along with magazine, 9 mm pistol (Sig Sauer) marked as 'P365, NEWINGTON, NH USA, 66A910916' along with magazine, .22 pistol (Walther) marked as 'SP22 cal .22Lr, Carl Walthar Ulm/Do, Made in Germany, SP22 M1', 66A910916' along with magazine, 9 mm pistol along with magazine and thirty three 9 mm ammunition and ten .22 ammunition.

The arrested person along with arms, ammunition will be handed over to Heingang police station, the SP said.

The arrested person along with the seized arms and ammunition were produced before the media persons after the briefing.
