Director General of Assam Rifles Lieutenant General Pradeep Chandran Nair, IGAR (South) Major General Ravroop Singh, Commandant of 109 Battalion of CRPF Govind Prasad Uniyal and Director of Jawaharlal Nehru Manipur Dance Academy (JNMDA) P Bilash Singh called on Governor Anusuiya Uikey at Raj Bhavan, today.
A statement from Raj Bhavan said that Lieutenant General Pradeep Chandran Nair and Major General Ravroop Singh briefed the Governor about the prevailing security situation in the State.
It said that the officers informed the Governor about the deployment of Assam Rifles personnel in the State in the wake of the ethnic conflict which has been continuing since May 3 last year and about the preparedness of the force to face any eventualities at any point in time.
This is the farewell visit of Lt Gen PC Nair as DG AR to Manipur, it said.
The Governor appreciated the efforts being made by the Assam Rifles to restore peace and normalcy in the State.
Lt Gen PC Nair also visited IGAR (South) and laid a wreath at the war memorial at Mantripukhri Garrison.
Following the wreath-laying ceremony, he addressed the troops and awarded commendations to some soldiers.
Commandant of 109 Bn of CRPF Govind Prasad Uniyal also called on the Governor today at Raj Bhavan.
It is the first meeting of Govind Prasad Uniyal with the Governor after assuming office as the Commandant of the 109 Battalion of CRPF recently.
The 109 Bn CRPF is looking after the security of the Governor and the Raj Bhavan in Imphal.
Meanwhile, the Director of JNMDA P Bilash Singh discussed the various issues being faced by the students at JNMDA with the Governor.
Bilash informed the Governor about the difficulties being faced by students in attending the Academy due to the ongoing conflict.
He also discussed the agendas which are to be discussed during the meeting of the Advisory Committee of the Academy which will be held tomorrow at Raj Bhavan with the Governor.
