Army men hurt in UG strike

Imphal, May 14 2014 :
At least two Army jawans sustained injury in a reported shoot-out with suspected RPF/PLA cadres along the Indo-Myanmar border near Theikhothang village under Singngat Subdivision in Churachandpur district this morning.
According to a source, the suspected PLA cadres launched an attack on the army this morning around 6 at a place where Border Pillar No 45 and 46 are erected when the army personnel were machinating handing-taking activities between 25 Madras Regiment and 1/11 Gorkha Rifles.
The gunfight lasted for about an hour.
The two injured army men were airlifted to Military Hospital, Leimakhong for treatment.
The source further identified the injured army personnel as Subedar Murugan Dan and Naik Guru Swami, both from the 25 Madras Regiment.
A joint force of the Madras Regiment and Gorkha Rifles launched a massive manhunt aftermath the shoot-out.
Meanwhile, an encounter took place between suspected ZUF and NSCN-IM cadres at Atengba Khun under Tousem subdivision of Tamenglong district this morning around 4 .
However, no casualty has been reported.
