Trucks set ablaze

At least two trucks of Border Roads Task Force (BRTF) transporting construction material were set on fire at Leingang Ching in Kakching today at around 9.30 am.
The two BRTF trucks were transporting construction material to construct a bridge at Sajik Tampak.
Reportedly, the two trucks which were coming from Imphal were intercepted by a group of people who were checking movement of vehicles at Umathel and found the two vehicles loaded with construction material including iron bars.
From Umathel, the two trucks were taken to Leingang Ching by a mob and both the vehicles were torched.
The two trucks were detained as the people thought that the material loaded in the two trucks were for the construction of a bridge over Manipur River at K Molnom Village.
Three non locals including two drivers were coming in the trucks and they have been identified as Sohan Lal (38) s/o Chothu from Rajasthan, Sawra Oraon (39), s/o Somra Urao from Jharkhand and Farukh Ansari (33), s/o Nur Mohammad Ansari from Jharkhand.
All three of them are officials of BRTF (Ukhrul 84 RCC) .
People in large number came out and as news of detention of the two trucks spread.
The mob then took the two trucks to Leingang Ching at Kakching Khunou Thongam Maning and set both the vehicles on fire.
A police team led by Kakching SP Th Vikramjit found the two trucks on fire when they reached Leingang Ching.
The fire was snuffed out before it destroyed the two trucks completely.
A case has been registered at Waikhong police station but there is no report of arresting any person when this report was filed.
