National Lok Adalat held across State

Imp/Ccp/Thb, December 11 2021: As per the calendar of National Legal Services Authority (NALSA), the Manipur State Legal Services Authority (MASLSA) in association with High Court Legal Services Committee and District Legal Services Authorities (DLSA) organized the last National Lok Adalat for the year, 2021 on Saturday at various places across the State, both in virtual and physical modes.

A press release issued by MASLSA stated that the National Lok Adalat for Imphal East and West district was jointly organized by MASLSA in association with Imphal East & Imphal West DLSA at ADR Building, Lamphel Court Complex.

The National Lok Adalat was also held at Chandel, Churachandpur, Bishnupur, Senapati, Thoubal, Ukhrul districts and in the High Court of Manipur.

The Lok Adalat was conducted in offline mode for the pending Court cases while it was conducted in online mode through video conferencing for pre-litigation matters relating to bank, telephone & others.

For Imphal East and Imphal West district, four benches composed of Judicial Officers and Advocates were constituted.

The High Court Legal Services Committee also organized National Lok Adalat at High Court of Manipur complex in which one Bench comprising of G Gaiphulshillu, Registrar General, High Court of Manipur; K Brajakumar Sharma, Joint Director, Manipur Judicial Academy and Y Rother, Registrar (Judl), High Court of Manipur was constituted.

For the National Lok Adalat held at the High Court of Manipur, nine cases were put up and out of which two cases pertaining to matrimonial cases were settled.

For the state of Manipur, altogether, 1927 cases (both pending & pre-litigation cases) were referred from the various Courts, Legal Aid Clinics, Tribunals, Banks for the National Lok Adalat.

However, only 355 cases were taken up on Saturday and out of which 175 cases were settled with a total settlement amount of Rs 1,93,45,211.Justice Kh Nobin Singh, Judge, High Court of Manipur & executive chairman of MASLSA also visited the National Lok Adalat held at ADR building, Lamphel Court Complex.

CHURACHANDPUR
DLSA Churachandpur in collaboration with MASLSA also organised National Lok Adalat in Churachandpur.

In the Lok Adalat, two benches were constituted with Keertichand Singh, District Judge, District & Sessions Judge cum chairman DLSA Churachandpur (DLSA) presiding Bench-1 along with Advocate Songzamang Tombing and Lalrinchhana Bawitlung, president BAR Churachandpur as members.

2 Bank defaulters of SBI, UCO and 7 pending court cases were taken up and 5 cases were settled and disposed by Bench 1.Meanwhile, 5 bank cases, 3 pending court cases from Canara Bank, 1 civil case of Land Dispute was settled and disposed by Bench-2 presided over by Janggoulen Haokip, Chief Judicial Magistrate cum secretary DLSA Churachandpur with Advocate Lhingneikim Haokip and Advocate Lalthomawi as members.

A total amount of Rs 8,36,000 was settled in the said Lok Adalat from the banks and court pending cases.

THOUBAL
DLSA Thoubal also organised National Lok Adalat at District & Sessions Court Complex, Thoubal.

In the Lok Adalat, 2 benches were constituted with Binny Ngangom, District & Sessions Judge, Thoubal; Bineshwori Maibam, secretary DLSA Thoubal as chairpersons and Advocates Kh Lembisana Meidingu & M Swami Singh as members.

A total of 18 pending cases (5 Civil, 5 Matrimonial, 1 Negotiable Instrument Act Cases, 2 Domestic Violence Act Cases and 5 MACT Case) from the Courts of Thoubal & 273 pre litigation Bank Cases were referred to the Lok Adalat.

Out of which, 18 pending cases (5 Civil, 5 Matrimonial, 1 Negotiable Instrument Act Cases, 2 Domestic Violence Act Cases and 5 MACT Case) & 7 pre-litigation bank cases were taken up and 6 pre-litigation bank cases were settled amounting to a sum of Rs 4,22,419 .
