Save indigenes drive from today

'Save indigenous people' campaign will be launched from tomorrow by the Indigenous People's Association of Kangleipak (IPAK) .
IPAK president Ksh Somorendro said this while speaking at the 9th foundation day observation of IPAK at Manipur Press Club today.
He also extended wishes to the people of the State on the 9th foundation day of IPAK and added that ever since its inception, IPAK has been playing a major role in the demand for the ILP in the State.
The people of the State have already started taking up jobs including that of mending footwear (cobblers), hair cutting, etc which were dominated by the non-locals to secure a livelihood, he added.
Somorendro also assured all assistance to any local who want to take up such jobs as a part of the 'Save the indigenous people' campaign.
7 women driver of passenger service (autorickshaw), Maimom Bhanu of Iroishemba Lourembam Leikai, Chungkham Surbala of Sagolband Tera Lukram Leirak, Thoudam Bijeta of Potsangbam Khoiru, Aheibam Inunganbi Chanu of Heirangoithong Awang Maibam Leikai, Ningthoujam Anita of Lamdeng Elangbam Leikai, Yanglem Piyainu of Chingamakha Yanglem Leikai and Oinam Laibi of Pangei Bazar were also awarded for stepping into a profession which are male dominated.
The programme was also attended by Sapamcha Jadumani, advisor IPAK; Heikrujam Ibotombi, National and International awardee; Yumnamcha Dilipkumar, president PANDM; Tourangbam Birjit, president IPSA; Sanjit Soraisam, president ACOAM Lup; RK Sanahanbi, president Kanglei Ima Lup; Wahengbam Shama, general secretary Kanglamei and Ch Pakpi Chanu, president of Lamjinglel Kangleipak (CLK) as presidium members.
