IM breaks silence on anti-tax rally

After almost a week, the NSCN-IM has broken its silence on the public rally organized by the Action Committee Against Unabated Taxation (ACAUT) in Dimapur on October 31 .
The ACAUT rally saw thousands of people extending their solidarity to the movement against illegal and unabated taxation in Nagaland by the militant organisations.
The NSCN-IM has in a press release issued by its MIP said that it is compelled by the unwarranted political situation created by the so-called ACAUT to inform the Naga people in particular and the world in general of its stand on collection of taxes.
The NSCN claimed that it has legitimate rights to levy taxes on the people as it is upholding the cause of the Naga nation.
Asking what this ACAUT is, the NSCN-IM sought to know what authority a committee has to dictate the Naga people or the NSCN.
Even then, the NSCN leadership tried to communicate with the ACAUT leaders a number of times for finding an amicable understanding through dialogue but they did not respect the goodwill gestures.
"Who are these sections of people who, in the name of democracy or freedom of speech, are attempting to hijack the name of the Naga people by organising an acrimonious rally in Dimapur on October 31 with the full backing of the Indian armed forces? What further situation do they want to create?" it asked.
The NSCN-IM maintained that some elements of Dimapur Naga Council (DNC) have consciously or unconsciously created a Frankenstein out of a rat.
"Since you have created it, you must own it to your own risk.
You are the author of this commotion," it cautioned.
Explaining that it is not a faction or political group as is presumed by ACAUT, the NSCN-IM wondered how ACAUT could arrogantly place itself above the nation.
"Be informed that the NSCN does not function under the ambit of State or State government or any committee instituted by it nor under the Constitution of India," it stated.
Asserting that it will not be a silent spectator to the challenge placed before the Naga people, the NSCN-IM said it will never allow any force on earth to undermine the cause of the Naga people and the hard earned peace process on the pretext of 'unabated taxation' or any other pretext.
"We do not blame the general public for the recent happenings in Dimapur.
But things have become very clear to us.
We have taken serious view on the situation created by ACAUT with ulterior motives," it stated.
The NSCN-IM also alleged that has become clear that the ACAUT is an instrument of adversary meant to tarnish the image of NSCN before the world and jeopardize the Indo-Naga political dialogue and in the process weaken the Naga cause.
"In spite of the fact, we will carry forward the banner of the national movement in the face of all odds," it said.
The NSCN-IM said the situation created by ACAUT has become political and it will have a negative impact on the innocent people.
"Whether you are conscious of it or not, enemies have already landed within you.
They are exploiting every situation you have created to their own advantage," it stated.
Observing that the battle line is drawn once again between the patriots on the one hand and the traitors and reactionaries combined on the other, the NSCN-IM said that it is for sure that all shades of traitors and the enemies' forces will ultimately join the ACAUT tofight the NSCN.
The NSCN-IM resolved that it will stand the ground with the four million Naga people in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ if the storm rocks Nagalim again.
"See that you do not go too far," it warned.
