Imphal, October 31 2026:
Ashem Regina, a research scholar pursuing PhD in Political Science at Manipur University, delivered a speech at the Lok Sabha Secretariat as part of a programme commemorating the birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel on October 31 .
The programme, titled "Participation of Youth of Our Country in the Events in Parliament to Pay Homage to National Leaders on Their Birth Anniversary," was organised by the Parliamentary Research and Training Institute for Democracies (PRIDE), Lok Sabha Secretariat, in coordination with the Department of School Education, Department of Higher Education and Department of Youth Affairs.

Regina, daughter of Asem Rajen Singh of Sega Road Takhellambam Leikai, Imphal, was among two students from Manipur selected to represent the State at the National-level programme.
The other selected participant was Inungnganba Konthoujam, a first-semester student of Manipur Technical University (MTU) .
While both students earned the opportunity to represent Manipur, Regina was additionally nominated to deliver a speech during the programme, recognising the State and its young academic community.
A total of 108 youths from 36 States and Union Territories were selected through a competitive process involving a multiple- choice question (MCQ) test and a speech test.
Out of the 108 youths, only 36 participants were nominated to deliver speeches during the programme, making Regina's selection a noteworthy achievement.
PRIDE, formerly known as the Bureau of Parliamentary Studies and Training (BPST), was established on January 1, 1976, as an integral part of the Lok Sabha Secretariat.
The institute provides Parliamentarians, Parliamentary staff and others with systematic training and institutionalised learning opportunities in Parlia- mentary institutions, processes and procedures.
Regina's participation in the prestigious National programme highlights the contribution of young scholars from Manipur to platforms that promote Parliamentary awareness, democratic values and youth engagement in the country's democratic institutions.
