Imphal, December 31 2009: In continued counter insurgency operations, Imphal East District Police have killed altogether 35 UGs and apprehended 386 others in 2009 .

Highlighting the achievements of the Imphal East District police during the period from January 1 to December 31, 2009 in a statement, its SP Th Radheshyam informed that out of the 35 UGs killed, 3 belonged to PLA/RPF, 2 to UNLF, 9 to KCP, 5 to PREPAK, 12 to PULF, one each to MNRF and UMPC and 2 to others.

Of the arrested UGs, 29 belonged to PLA/RPF, 15 to UNLF, 154 to KCP, 30 to KYKL, 59 to PREPAK, 2 each to NSCN (I-M), NSCN (K), UKLF, KRA, KNA/KLA and UKRA, 3 each to KNF and KLA, 39 to PULF, 18 to UPPK, 5 to UNPC, 4 to MDF (KYKL), 1 each to MNRF, KRF and GPRN while 11 to others.

In addition to this, 13 UGs including 2 of PLA, one of UNLF, 4 of PREPAK and 3 each of KCP and PULF have been detained under NSA.

The SP further listed the number of arms and ammunition seized during the same period as 11 AK-56 with 163 arounds of ammunition, 10 rounds of AK-47 ammunition, 1 SM carbine, 1 M-16 Rifles with 9 rounds of ammunition, 38 9 mm pistols with 114 rounds of ammunition, 6 point 32 pistols with 22 rounds of ammunition, 2 7.65 mm pistols with 7 rounds of ammunition, 5 point 38 revolvers with 12 rounds of ammunition, 4 lethod launcher guns with 8 rounds of ammunition, 4 M-20 pistols with 13 rounds of ammunition, 3 M-21 Rifles with 10 rounds of ammunition and 10 rounds of SLR 7.62 ammunition.

This is in addition to the seizure of two extra magazine of AK-56 Rifles, 1 extra magazine of point 32 pistol, four 36 HE hand grenades, 16 Chinese hand grenades, 1 detonator, 1 wireless set, 8 mobile hand sets, 6 motor cycles, 1 computer set, four van/autorickshaws and 60 kgs of silver electric wire.

In connection with these incidents, in all 815 cases including three transferred cases have been registered, out of which 240 cases have been disposed while 475 are pending.

Over and above this, the district police have also arrested 525 people under normal cases, 322 under section 41 Cr PC and 12 others under section 109/110 Cr PC.

Furthermore, the SP disclosed that 1200 cases have been registered by the traffic police of the district and collected Rs 1,70,000 through TR as fine in 2009 .

The district police have also reportedly seized 120 kgs of Ganja, 12 SP tablets and recovered Rs 2,26,700 in cash during the same period.
