Imphal, December 29 2014:
Chief Minister O Ibobi has once again reiterated his Government's commitment towards equitable development of the State irrespective of terrain or topography.
Addressing a public meeting at Sugnu High School ground today after inaugurating a new market shed and a Community Health Centre and laying the foundation stone of a 33/11 KV power sub-station, Ibobi stated that Sugnu occupies a very strategic position as it is located at the junction of Thoubal, Bishnupur, Chandel and Churachandpur districts.
The State cannot be said to be developed by developing only the State capital or the district headquarters.
Efforts are on to provide all basic amenities at all the interior areas of the State in phase manner.
Even though the interior areas cannot be transformed immediately, the Government would take up development programmes without any discrimination between the hills and the valley, Ibobi stated.

Construction of the power sub-station for which the foundation stone was laid today would be completed within five months.
But it would not be possible without people's cooperation.
People need to voice their objection against all disruptive activities targeted against any development work including construction of the power sub-station, Ibobi exhorted.
Responding to the number of memoranda and representations submitted by different organisations, Ibobi assured that all the shortages of the CHC inaugurated today would be made up soon in consultation with Health Minister Phungzathang Tonsing and MLA K Ranjit.
The Chief Minister further assured that people can expect some changes at the CHC very soon.

The State Cabinet has already decided to upgrade Sugnu High School and Chakpikarong High School to the level of higher secondary schools.
Regarding service regularization of higher secondary school Lecturers appointed on contract basis, Ibobi appealed to the people to wait for sometime.
Apart from renovating the Sugnu water supply plant, relevant authorities would be asked to open a new branch of SBI at Sugnu, Ibobi stated.
Sugnu-Chakpikarong road was kept unattended following the demand of some civil society organisations to hand over the road to BRO.
Now the State Government would see if any measures can be taken up to repair the road at the earliest.
Health and Family Welfare Minister Phungzathang Tonsing, MLA K Ranjit, MLA E Dwijamani and MLA DS Haopu were also present at the function.
Later, the Chief Minister inaugurated a power sub-station of 33/11 KV at Sekmaijin.
