CCpur, October 24 2022:
The Churachandpur Medical College, which is set to debut during the current academic session has drawn the concern and wrath of many as it was alleged that interview for recruitment of Office Assistant and Grade IV workers held today was done discreetly without publishing the notification in public domain.
Following the outbursts from the public, the Director of Churachandpur Medical College today issued a notification putting on hold the recruitment process of 6 Office Assistant and 6 Grade IV employees on daily wage basis.
Further process including advertisement shall be done for proper public notice through newspapers etc, said the notification.
A notification purportedly issued by the college vide No.01/001/APS-CMC/2022 dated 18th October, 2022 calls for 6 posts each of Office Assistant and Grade IV for the Medical College on daily wage.
The notification, it is alleged, was made only today, the day of interview of the two posts.
Social activists, the local press and several others today enquired about the matter but the officials could not provide any concrete response on the queries as the Director was absent.
Interestingly, it has been established that 16 applicants applied for the 6 posts of Office Assistant while 14 have applied for the 6 Grade IV posts despite the fact that the notification was never made public.
The exercise was therefore flagged by many quarters who received the notification on social media today.
Social workers, Khuma Hauzel and Lalboi Neihsial along with the KSO Churachandpur and the local media had claimed that no newspapers had published the notification nor was it made public before today.
They have sought the intervention of the authorities concerned to withhold the recruitment drive while also appealing that a fresh notification for the same be notified without any procedural lapses.
The Kuki Students' Organisation Churachandpur meanwhile issued a statement saying it was surprised at the nature of recruitment.
'It wasn't published in any newspaper nor was it made available to the general public.
The motive behind the recruitment notice surfacing from secondary sources is truly uncalled for.
While we welcome the various development aspects in the district under the initiative of our Hon'ble Prime Minister of India Shri Narendra Modiji and our Hon'ble Chief Minister Shri N Biren Singh, we reiterate and seek the intervention of concerned authorities and the State Government of Manipur to review and ensure all the recruitment processes are withheld and a fresh notification for the same is notified without any procedural lapses,' it said.
The statement also mentioned that the Health & Family Welfare Minister Dr Sapam Ranjan in his last visit to the varsity announced that the academic session will begin from November 15, 2022.It however remarked that the recruitment process for various vacant posts has not yet been initiated, with only two weeks left for the commencement of classes.
