Imphal, June 20 2020:
Former MLA of Naoriya Pakhanglakpa Assembly Constituency RK Anand has announced that he might contest in the by-election of the constituency to serve the people at his best level.
It may be mentioned that Soibam Subhaschandra recently resigned from his post, leaving the MLA post of the AC vacant.
Speaking to media persons during a press meet held at Kwakeithel Akham Leikai, RK Anand stated that the MLA post of the AC is currently vacant.
He also said that switching sides by some political leaders amid the COVID-19 pandemic has created a panicky atmosphere in the State.
Pointing out that some Ministers had stepped down from their posts, including the crucial portfolio Health at a time when the State has recorded over 700 COVID cases, RK Anand asked who will take responsibility for the chaotic situation that is developing in the State.
"It seems like some of our MLAs lack vision, don't understand politics and think only of their interest," he said and added that Soibam Subhaschandra betrayed his voters as he took the extreme decision without thinking about the consequences it would have on the public.
Saying that 21 Naoriya Pakhanglakpa Kendra Co-ordinating Committee will start visiting quarantine centres to hear the needs and grievances of inmates, RK Anand asked all concerned to support the committee in their endeavour.
The action taken by Soibam Subhaschandra was not only against the Government but also the public, in short it was anti-National, he said and added that causing political unrest amid the COVID crisis is not encouraging.
It is reported that there are certain developmental programmes and projects which are yet to finish and that 21 Naoriya Pakhanglakpa Kendra Co-ordinating Committee has also been demanding to all concerned to furnish a white paper of PDS items that are to be distributed to the public of the AC .
