Imphal, October 14 2012:
Having already achieved the extraordinary feat of doing pull-ups several times in a minute with just the little fingers, Maibam Itomba Meetei is practising and sweating everyday to enhance his performance with his eyes firmly set on the Guinness Book of World Records.
Under the aegis of the Brilliant Club and the Lakhs Pioneer Club, Itomba presented a performance at JN Dance Academy auditorium today.
Even though Itomba hoped to do more than 30 pull-ups within a minute using his little fingers, Itomba could not perform up to one minute.
Nevertheless, he did 20 pull-ups within 30 seconds.
The existing record in the Guinness Book of World Records is 53 pull-ups within a minute and it was set in 2012 .
But there is no record of doing multiple pull-ups using only little fingers.
Speaking to media persons after his performance, Itomba said, "I hoped I can do more than 30 pull-ups within a minute but I could not last the full 60 minutes due to some problems in my little fingers" .

Incidentally, Itomba started doing pull-ups using little fingers from a very young age when he had idea what the Guinness Book of World Records is.
He said, "Though the little fingers are said to be the weakest among our fingers, I had an unnatural tendency to prove it wrong" .
On being asked about he started doing pull-ups with little fingers, Itomba said that it was a petty argument among his peers about who could do pull-ups with only the middle fingers.
At this, Itomba accepted the challenge and successfully did pull-ups with his middle-fingers.
"This incident gave me confidence that pull-ups can be done with little fingers too", he said.
Itomba was also gym player of the Uripok Body Building Association, Naoremthong and he was trained in SAI Takyel.
