Imphal, May 27 2024:
In a move to connect with remote villages and address security-related issues, Assam Rifles Battalion, operating under the Red Shield Division of the Indian Army, conducted an interactive session with village authorities and heads of ten remote villages at Sendra in Bishnupur district, on Monday.
According to a statement issued by PRO Defence, the interaction served as an open forum for villagers and began with the Army commending the local populace for their role in maintaining peace and stability in the region.
The discussion primarily centred on security concerns in the area and the importance of coordination between CSOs and village heads.
Additionally, villagers were alerted on Remal Cyclone, and briefed on precautionary measures they should take in the event of heavy rainfall or emergencies.
The Army emphasised the availability of nearby Army columns for support during such situations.
The session concluded with Army officers encouraging village headmen to actively promote education, sports, and overall societal development among the youth.
Village heads were urged to disseminate information about security measures implemented by the security forces and to promote peace and stability within the community, the statement added.
