Imphal, February 17 2022:
While condemning the assault on workers of Keirao AC Shiv Sena candidate Toijam Debananda Singh, including women who were on their way back from election campaigning by some hooded people; Shiv Sena Manipur Unit president M Tombi has demanded strict action to be taken up against the attackers.
Speaking to newspersons regarding the incident, Tombi remarked that if an incapable person is elected from the constituency, the future would be quite concerning.
The MLA of Keirao had taken a key role in attempt to dethrone CM Biren and he is rather infamous in the media for being uneducated in his social dealings.
However, the electoral process should be respected and one should work hard to serve the people who elected him in the first place.
Thus, any future action would be taken up after acquiring all necessary documents, the unit president said, while adding that an FIR has been lodged in connection with the incident.
"Assaulting women would not guarantee victory in the elections,' Tombi stated.
