Jiribam on alert after kids suffer skin diseases

Reports of children in Jiribam district affected by unknown skin disease has prompted the health department to initiate preventive measures and maintain vigilance.
Speaking to reporters, Jiirbam CMO in-charge Dr E Okendro conceded that the exact cause of the skin disease affecting the children remains unknown, though two children are confirmed to be suffering from the condition.
The children, who are from Aglapur in Jiribam and Badarpur in Assam, would be kept and monitored in isolation for todays, explained Dr Okendro, who also informed that subsequent to the health director's advice, blood samples from the children patients have been collected and sent to Guwahati for testing.
While stating that the results are expected soon, the CMO in-charge reassured that there is no cause for panic at present.
