MLA inspects flood-damaged river bank, roads

Khangabok MLA Okram Surjakumar on Wednesday assessed damaged caused to Thoubal river bank at Thoubal Wangmataba Sorok Makha section, condition of roads and laid the foundation stone for a 36x10 feet double storey public stage-cum-room at SSAWA ground of the locality.
The visit covered the breached portion of the river bank at Wangmataba Sorok Makha and sunken road due to recent flood.
Addressing a public meet at Wangmataba community hall after the visit, MLA Surjakumar noted that various portion of Thoubal river banks have been damaged due to overflowing of the river water.
While stating that the planned construction of retaining wall and other water supply projects could not be executed the IFCD and PWD since the last few years owing to shortage of fund, the MLA assured to repair the damaged river bank and loads from own sources in public interest.
He also announced blacktopping of roads in all the localities in consultation with the local MLA and his father ex-CM O Ibobi.
