One more succumb to COVID-19 in Kpi, mass vaccination held in Irang Part-1

Kangpokpi, June 28 2021: COVID-19 fatality in Kangpokpi district continued to escalate as the death toll climbed to 3 8 following death of one more person in the last 24 hours.

The latest victims, Saneiring (60), w/o (L) Saiphu Chonsochung of Laikot Phaijol village in Lhungtin Sub-division succumbed to the dreaded COVID-19 today at around 2:32 am in Babina Speciality Hospital, Imphal East.

The deceased was admitted at American Oncology Institute Babina Speciality Hospital COVID-19 ICU on June 27 and expired this early morning due to acute respiratory distress syndrome with post-COVID-19 lung fibrosis.

With no objection from Laikot Phaijol Village Authority for the burial, the deceased was buried at the village cemetery following strict COVID-19 protocols as instructed by the District Magistrate/DC Kangpokpi.

Besides, Kangpokpi district reported 32 new COVID-19 positive cases in the last 24 hours taking the total number of active cases in the district to 145 .

Meanwhile, a mass vaccination drive was also conducted today at Manedara (9 miles) in the Twilang area under Kangpokpi AC in collaboration with PHC T Waichong, 44 Assam Rifles, COVID Task Force Irang area.

Around 151 persons including 119 persons of the age group 18 years and above and 32 persons of 45 years and above were vaccinated during the mass vaccination drive.

The mass vaccination drive was also participated by general secretary BJP Manipur Pradesh, Premananda Meitei; BJP Kangpokpi Mandal President, Tingnei Lhouvum; former ADC Sadar Hills members, BP Vikas Basnet and Sagar Gewali; and GB Irang Part-I, HP Nepal apart from various other line department officials.
