Body hails CM for lifting AFSPA

Lamlai Mapari Thougal Lup has hailed chief minister N Biren for lifting the disturbed area status which is used to enforce the Armed Forces (Special Power) Act, 1958 from some parts of the state including Lamlai assembly constituency.
Addressing a press meet at Manipur Press Club here on Saturday, Lup's general secretary Th Momon stated that people of the state including Lamlai have been agitating for many years for the revocation of the draconian law.
N Biren, within a short period of his second swearing-in as the chief minister, revoked the disturbed area status from some parts of the state, as per the wishes of the people.
Fortunately, Lamlai AC was also included among the areas from where the pro-military law was withdrawn, he mentioned.
Th Momon continued that considering the government's people-friendly act, the Lup on behalf of the people of Lamlai AC is thankful to the chief minister.
He also assured that the organisation will take key part in the CM's 'War on Drugs' campaign especially in Lamlai area with the support of public.
