Bishnupur, September 27 2024:
LDA Workers and Employees' Union of Manipur has asserted that the service of L Bhagat on, who retired as LDA director in February 2024, should not be extended while cautioning of intense form of agitation in case the union's demand is not accorded importance.
Addressing media persons at the Toupokpi LDA office on Friday, Union secretary P Shyamkumar stated that during his tenure as LDA director, Bhagaton failed to regularise qualified employees in-spite of a clear order that all work-charged employees who had served for 10 years are eligible for regularisation, which Bhagaton disregarded.
He also pointed out that while there are 343 sanctioned positions in the LDA, Bhagaton has only maintained 84, effectively undermining LDA.
As such he is unfit for the post of director.
If the government aims to develop the LDA, Bhagaton's service should not be extended, the secretary insisted while asserting that the union would launch strong protests if his service is extended.
The press briefing was also attended by Manipur Government Services' Federation vice president N Sarat, advisor Th John and general secretary Purojit Lairikyengbam among others.
