₹30,500 in coins looted from Jiribam SBI branch

Jiribam, May 21 2024: Miscreant/s looted Rs 30,500 in coins from the Jiribam SBI branch, located on the second floor of Jiribam Supermarket on Monday midnight.

Though the bank authorities refused to divulge details regardless of the main door found unlocked when the staff arrived in the morning, inspection by the security guards confirmed the bank heist as Rs 5 coins worth fes 12,500 and Rs 10 coins worth Rs 18,000 were found missing when the strong room locker was inspected.

The looter/s also damaged the CCTV camera installed inside the bank and covered another CCTV camera at the entrance with plastic.

A team of Jiribam district police led by the SP arrived at the scene and examined the CCTV footage during which it was found that a person had sneaked into the bank through a window around 9:30 pm on Monday.

The person was seen inside the bank till 4 am Tuesday.

A case has been registered at Jiribam police station and investigation initiated.
