The armed Kangleipak Communist Party-Politburo Standing Committee (KCP) claimed responsibility for firing at a shop in Wangjing bazar, Thoubal district owned by Ningthoujam Roben few days back and hardened its decision to award punishment to Roben.
A KCP statement issued by information & public relations secretary M Punsiba Meitei, accused Roben of proactive involvement in a syndicate Supplying betel leaves in the state and currently distributor for Thoubal and Kakching districts.
The party had warned the syndicate to stop all their activities around one month back but Roben defied and even challenged the party by using an individual from a revolutionary group.
In view of his continued association with the syndicate running a huge betel leaves, tobacco and related products business by providing huge money to Kuki narco-terrorists based in Churachandpur and Kangpokpi, the party decided to award Roben severe punishment.
The party even issued an order to shoot Roben on his legs but he could not be traced.
As such, shots were fired at his shop at Wangjing as warning, the KCP statement clarified and warned that Roben may face more severe punishment if he continues to defy party's decision.
