Assam Rifles conducted a veterinary aid camp and vaccination drive as a part of Operation Sadhbhavana at Mata village, Churachandpur district on Friday.
The initiative addressed the healthcare needs of approximately 797 animals, including cattle, goats, dogs, pigs, and poultry, benefiting 151 individuals from Mata village and its surrounding areas.
According to a PRO IGAR (S) release, the camp provided comprehensive veterinary services, including medical check-ups, free medications, and vaccinations such as anti-rabies for dogs, swine flu vaccines, and foot-and-mouth disease vaccines for cattle.
A dedicated team comprising a Remount Veterinary Corps doctor, the chief veterinary officer, and a vaccination team from the Department of Veterinary and Animal Husbandry, Churachandpur, was mobilised to deliver efficient and accessible care.
Additionally, a volunteer veterinary doctor from the Churachandpur Veterinary Doctors' Association extended expertise to ensure the camp's success, said the PRO, adding that the event also featured an awareness campaign on animal health, vaccination protocols, and hygiene practices.
Meanwhile in Noney district, Assam Rifles conducted a wreath laying ceremony on Friday at the battalion's War Memorial to honour rifleman (general duty) PK Rabha, who laid down his life in the line of duty.
The gallant soldier made the supreme sacrifice on December 20, 2005, during an operation against insurgents in Bongyang, Manipur.
