Pillion rider dies in accident

Imphal, July 09 2024: One Laishram Mamta Devi (39) of Singjamei Makha Naorem Leikai, who was pillion-riding a Royal Enfield motorbike died after a water tanker hit the bike from behind on Monday night along BT road.

According to police, a black Royal Enfield motorbike (MN01AH-6320) coming from Samumakhong side towards Kangla Western gate along BT road met an accident in front of Manipur Pradesh Congress Committee office after the water tanker (MN01-9032) rammed the bike from back.

In the accident, the rider and pillion rider got injured.

However, Laishram Mamta was rushed to Raj Medicity for treatment but succumbed to injuries, it informed.

A case has been registered by City Police in this regard and the water tanker driver arrested and water tanker seized.

After conducting post-mortem examination at RIMS morgue on Tuesday, the body of the deceased was handed over to her family, it added.
