Home guard welfare scheme benefits distributed

Imphal, February 01 2025: Manipur Home Guard Employees' Welfare Association (MHGEWA) distributed Home Guard Welfare Scheme benefits to retired personnel during a function held alongside the commemoration of the Supreme Court ruling to enhance salary of home guard personnel, at GM Hall, here on Saturday.

Speaking on the occasion, association secretary Y Mangi informed that the salary for home guard personnel was very low.

However, a Supreme Court ruling in 2020 directed the government to increase the salary on par with those of police constable.

It was indeed a welcoming step towards fulfilling the long standing demands of the home guard personnel, he said but hastened to term as lamentable that the state government has not taken up any initiatives to translate the ruling into action till date.

He drew attention of the government to enhance their salary at the earliest.

Benefits of the welfare scheme run by the association were also distributed to recently retired personnel of home guard, at the event.
