Thoubal, July 30 2025:
All Manipur VDF Employees' Welfare Association, in coordination with VDF Welfare Associations from all 16 districts, held a mass meeting of VDF members at Khongjom Chingtham in Thoubal district on Wednesday.
During the gathering, the association announced that VDF personnel will resume their suspended "Gun-Down" and "Pen-Down" agitations from August 1, citing the government's failure to meet their long-standing demands.
Speakers at the meeting voiced dissatisfaction over repeated neglect by successive governments.
Association president Sanjit Sagolsem asserted that VDF personnel are deployed in high-risk zones and work round-the-clock like regular police, yet paid inadequate monthly honorarium, leaving many VDF families in financial distress.

Sanjit said that the association had previously suspended the agitation following government assurances of prompt action, but no concrete steps have been taken in over two months.
Thoubal District VDF Welfare Association president Md Idris said that the demands include regularisation of service, revision of remuneration, and full implementation of provisions under Section 18 of the Police Act, 1861.He added that the government had been urged to implement past office memorandum commitments, but no progress was seen.
With the expiry of the two-month waiting period, the Central Committee representing 10,050 VDF personnel has resolved to resume the agitation.
Idris said that all VDF personnel in Thoubal district will fully support the decision.
