Training programme on livestock conducted

Under the aegis of National Livestock Mission (NLM), District Veterinary Office, Thoubal/Kakching joint director organised a farmers' training programme on 'Poultry Management, Scientific Rearing of Pig and Livestock Insurance' at Langathel Keithel Macha Harinaran Mandop on Tuesday.
The programme was attended by retired head master H Rajen Singh as chief guest, District Veterinary Office, Thoubal joint director Dr P Gojendro Singh as president and retired poultry specialist Dr Kh Somendrp Singh as guest of honour.
Speaking on the occasion, Dr Gojendro appealed to farmers to avail the benefits of various schemes being implemented by the central and state governments for income generation and to work for self-sustainability in food production in the state.
Assuring farmers not to worry about loss of livestock due to any epidemic or any other disaster, he conveyed that the training programme has been conducted to raise awareness on livestock insurance so that farmers can rear their livestock without fear of any economic loss.
Retired poultry specialist Dr Kh Somendro Singh, Khongjom Veterinary Hospital VO Dr H Lamphel Singh and Heirok Veterinary Hospital VO Dr Y Sovarani Devi were resource persons of the training programme attended by 85 farmers.
