Imphal, October 14 2022:
Social Welfare director Ng Uttam said that the tender process for contract of transporting PDS rice from FCI warehouse has not been completed and the department has not authorised any firm for the same purpose.
Addressing a press meet at the department office here on Friday, Uttam said that 16 firms submitted bids to the tender floated by the department for transportation of rice from FCI warehouses for distribution to Anganwadi centres under ICDS supplementary project.
The department approved bids of seven firms after assessing the documents and rejected nine others, for not meeting the eligibility criteria.
They are also verifying the authenticity of the documents submitted by the firms, which takes time as they have to cross check the documents with relevant departments.
As such the tender process is still incomplete, he said.
The director also dismissed as totally baseless media report saying that he has authorised a Swift Dzire car for transportation of rice for ICDS project.
Maintaining that he had never involved in any unethical practices or acted beyond the rules, the director said that the department did not authorise any private vehicle or firm for the purpose as of now.
He also appealed all to cross check any report or document before taking it to the public domain.
