Workshop for science communicators held

The three-day workshop for science communicators on script development/writing on the theme 'Covid-19' organised by Manipur Science and Technology Council (MASTEC) concluded at the conference hall of Manipur Science Centre, Takyelpat here on Thursday.
Catalysed and supported by National Council for Science & Technology Communication (NCSTC), Department of Science & Technology, Government of India; the main objective of the workshop was to impart training to the budding science writers so as to enhance science coverage in various forms of media.
During the course of the workshop, a series of lectures was delivered by eminent science popularisation activists and resource persons, including Dr CM Nautiyal, who is the consultant science communicator at Indian National Science Academy (INSA), New Delhi; G Tomba Sharma, who is a popular science writer and former principal of DM College of Science, Imphal; Prof O Joychandra Singh of Shija Academy of Health Science, Langol; Adhikarimayum Gitchandra Sharma, who is the Director In-charge (Head of Programme), All India Radio, Imphal; Hemchandra Salam, who is the editor of Echel Express, Imphal and Satyajit Usham, who is the News Editor of The People's Chronicle.
The participants who were drawn from various educational institutions and government departments were also imparted practical knowledge on developing scripts for various formats of media for publication/broadcast in different media outlets.
