CCpur joins observance of World Soil Day

ICAR-Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Churachandpur under ICAR Research Complex for NEH Region, Manipur Centre observed World Soil Day at its office premises on Monday.
The inaugural function was attended by Lanva constituency former MDC T Khaik-homang as chief guest, KVK Churachandpur head in-charge Dr L Somendro as president and Agriculture Department extension officer Sutthianlal as guest of honour.
The event began with a welcome address by Dr N Johnson Singh, SMS (PP).
During the inaugural session, the dignitaries high lighted the importance of soil and the necessity to utilise and preserve it in a sustainable way so that the future of agriculture and the existence of human race can be rationalised.
As a part of the observance, a technical session of experts of KVK on soil sample collection and importance of soil testing was also conducted.
The theme of this year's celebration is "Soil: Where food begins".
Altogether 52 farmers including 21 males and 31 females from different villages of Churachandpur participated in the programme which ended with a vote of thanks by CTO (Fy) Dr N Soranganba.
