Royal Global University welcomes Ranjit Barthakur as advisor

In a significant move to strengthen its commitment to sustainability and educational excellence, Royal Global University (RGU) has appointed Ranjit Barthakur, the executive chairman of Rajasthan Royals and a renowned advocate of sustainable development, as an advisor to the Governing Body.
Barthakur's expertise in blending nature and economics is expected to play a key role in advancing RGU's mission to create 50,000 skilled professionals over the next decade, according to a statement of the university.
Welcoming the new advisor, Royal Global University chancellor Dr AK Pansari highlighted Barthakur's alignment with RGU's goals.
"Barthakur's innovative approach to integrating sustainability with economic growth perfectly complements our vision.
His guidance will be invaluable as we work to shape the future of Northeast India and beyond," Dr Pansari stated.
During his visit, Barthakur delivered an engaging presentation on the evolution of human economic systems, tracing a journey from 'Agrarian Civilisations to the Industrial and Digital Ages', before introducing the concept of a 'Naturenomics Civilisation'.
This new economic model, which emphasises the harmonious integration of environmental stewardship with economic progress, has been a hallmark of Barthakur's work.
He praised RGU for its pioneering initiatives in education and sustainability, stating, "Royal Global University is more than an academic institution; it is a force for change in the Northeast.
By fostering an environment where education and sustainability go hand in hand, RGU is preparing future leaders to tackle the ecological and economic challenges of tomorrow".
Barthakur also encouraged students to embrace volunteerism, particularly through initiatives like Mission Smile, and to cultivate an entrepreneurial mindset, urging them to look beyond traditional career paths.
He underscored the power of gratitude and the importance of community engagement in shaping a sustainable and socially responsible future.
In addition to his address, Barthakur interacted with students, faculty, and staff, sharing his vision fora future in which nature and economics coexist symbiotically.
His principles of Naturenomics, which promote the balanced interdependence of nature and economic growth, resonated deeply with the RGU community.
Adding to the day's notable events, RGU also welcomed Prof YSR Murthy as its new vice-chancellor.
Prof Murthy, a distinguished academic and human rights expert, brings a wealth of experience to the university.
The institution also honoured Prof UR Dhar, Prof BB Dam, and Prof Biswajit Banerjee with Lifetime Achievement Awards for their invaluable contributions to academia, the statement added.
