Army distributes sports kits in Imphal East

Imphal, February 02 2025:
The Indian Army organised a sports equipment distribution programme at Kangla Sangomsang in Imphal East district on Sunday during which a wide range of high-quality sports equipment, including basketball, football, cricket, volleyball, kickboxing, badminton, chess and carom board were distributed.
Conducted under Operation Sadbhavana, the initiative was undertaken in response to request of locals, aiming to promote sportsmanship and physical fitness among the youth.
The sports items were received on behalf of the community by Kangla Sangomsang village chief Aheibam Ibombi Singh and NETA president Longjam Baleshwor.
According to PRO Defence, as a part of the programme, the Army also felicitated Dezy Longjam, Taniya Laishram, Yendrenbam Victor Singh, NG Chingulembi, W Lachenba, H Prem Meitei and W Jenifer Devi for their outstanding achievements in various sports disciplines.
The villagers, in a vibrant display of appreciation also showcased the rich Meitei cultural heritage through captivating traditional dance performances.
The event also featured Huiyen Langlon, an indigenous martial art of Manipur, symbolising the region's warrior ethos and deep-rooted martial traditions, added the PRO .
