Imphal, October 25 2024:
Rongmei Naga Council Manipur (RNCM) has asserted that October 14 declaration by office of the Hill Areas Committee chairman recommending to the state government for reconstituting the long non-officiated Autonomous District Councils in Manipur hill districts through the process of selection is a gross violation of the principle of democracy, systematically designed to misappropriate fund allocated for the hill districts.
As per a release by RNCM publicity/information wing, the deliberate attempt to justify the decision by establishing false constitutional provision, laws, policies and acts in pursuance to the cabinet decision taken on June 13, will definitely not go down well withrthe people.
"RNCM with all-obligations to defend the people from such injustice shall not remain a mere spectator to such politics manipulated by some individual/groups with vested interest," it asserted.
RNCM also alleged that the value of democracy established on the foundation of 'self-governance' is unremorsefully played down to suffice the evil desire of few persons in position.
Democracy is placed at risk and the culture of dic-tatorship/autocracy, is slowly unfolding in the system.
Those responsible citizens with even an iota of concern should stand up against such undemocratic judgement, it exhorted.
The release declared that the Rongmei tribe, as legitimate citizen of the state, condemns the declaration and appeals to all concerned to reconsider the matter in the best interest of all concerned.
