Arms, ammunition seized in search operations

Imphal, July 16 2024:
In a series of coordinated search operations across the state, security forces recovered cache of arms and ammunition on Tuesday.
The first operation on Tuesday morning at Moltingcham village by 37 Assam Rifles, Kakching district commando, and Sugnu police led to the seizure of a local-made rifle, two Baofeng handheld radio sets, a Chinese hand grenade, a Leth-ode shell, a pistol magazine, two .303 magazine charger bases, a grenade key, a 2-inch mortar shell wing, 14 empty 9mm shell casings, a misfired M-16 bullet, seven empty INSAS rifle shell casings, four empty AK rifle shell casings, seven empty 7.62mm SLR rifle shell casings, five empty .303 rifle shell casings, and two improvised mortar launchers (Pompi).
All the seized arms and ammunition were handed over to the Sugnu police station.
Simultaneously, another operation was conducted at Kakchup Chingkhong under the Lamsang police station resulting in the recovery of 11 combat helmets, 10 camouflaged pants, 18 camouflaged shirts, five military-type scarves, four camouflaged caps, 11 pairs of jungle boots, six BP vests without armour plates, two mobile handsets, two backpacks, a demand letter of Kangleipak Communist Party - People's War Group (KCP-PWG), a letterhead of KCP-PWG, a record notebook of a KCP (PWG) sentry camp, three shoulder flaps of Manipur Rifles, a rough attendance sheet, a Manipur police commando badge (Kanglasha), six cane sticks, and an iron rod.
Another operation was carried out by a joint team of Bishnupur District police, 2nd Mahar Regiment, and E/184 Battalion BSF in Haotak Gelbung area under Kumbi police station.
The operation resulted in the seizure of a Lethode gun, two improvised mortar launchers (Pompi), a carbine with a magazine, a Kenwood handheld radio set, two HE 36 hand grenades, five 9mm rounds, ten 7.62mm rounds, a BP vest, and two combat shirts.
In Churachandpur, a joint operation by district police, 36 Assam Rifles, and G/129 Battalion CRPF targeted locations including Kanpui auto stand, YMA hall, Kanpui cemetery, Futsal Complex," Geleed prayer centre, and GMB brick farm under Churachandpur police station.
The search operation led to the seizure of a country-made SBBL 12-bore gun.
