Awareness / account opening prog held

Imphal, November 15 2022:
Department of Post, Manipur Division, Directorate of Small Savings and Imphal West district administration of Imphal West jointly organised an awareness cum account opening programme on National Savings Scheme (NSS), Postal Life Insurance (PIL) and Rural Postal Life Insurance (RPLI)at Kuranganayani hall, Imphal West DC complex, here on Tuesday.
The programme was attended North East Region II Dimapur post master general Som Kamei as chief guest, Imphal West ADC K Jadumani as president and Directorate of Small Savings director Rojendrakar Nongthomba as guest of honour.
Speaking at the event, PLI development officer Gurumayum Tulsidas Sharma informed that the programme has been organised to make the people aware about financial literacy and inform about the ways they could benefit from saving money.
Instead of spending money on publicity and advertisement, NSS, PLI and RPLI provide more benefits to the customers, he pointed out, while adding that people are unaware of such benefits.
Referring to cases in which investor had to suffer loss after investing in unregulated private banks, Tulsidas appealed to people to invest money only in government recognised banks or to banking sectors under the government which are working for the people without any intend on earning profit.
Such investment will help avoid distressful situation, he added.
In all, 126 people opened their bank accounts during the programme.
