Special commando team arrests KYKL cadre

Imphal, December 12 2022: A team of Special Commando, Khabeisoi arrested one active cadre of the proscribed KYKL from Takhel Makha Leikai under Lamlai police station in Imphal East district.

The arrested KYKL cadre has been identified as Pukhrambam Puninchandra (42) son of Hemanta of Takhel Makha Leikai.

According to a police source, 4 Assam Rifles relayed information about the presence of some KYKL cadres in Takhel Makha Leikai community hall area at about 11.10 am on Monday.

Based on the information, a special commando team led by OC subedar Vivekananda under the supervision of SP in-charge Th Krishnatombi rushed to the area and conducted search operation.

During the search operation, Puninchandra was arrested at about 11.45 am.

During initial questioning, Puninchandra disclosed that he joined the outfit in 1998 through lance corporal Khamba and underwent basic military training in the 2nd batch at Khoupum.

Puninchandra further disclosed that he is currently working for the outfit under the command of 2nd Lt Chapba Potsangbam, the source said, adding that Puninchandra has been handed over to Lamlai police station for further investigation.
