Demanding withdrawal of the President's Rule and reinstatement of popular government, women belonging to Apunba Manipurgi Imasing/United Mothers of Manipur have started mounting pressure on MLAs.
Addressing media persons at Manipur Press Club, here, on Monday, United Mothers' Thongam Inaocha said people have been enduring distressful situation ever since the violence broke out on May 3 2023 with thousands displaced by the violence are still languishing in relief camps.
Amidst the situation, President's Rule was imposed with unceremonious dismissal of the democratic government consequently magnifying suffering of the people, she said, adding that the organisation has started submitting memorandums to the elected representatives to form a popular government in place of the President's Rule.
According to Inaocha, elected representatives cannot remain silent but take a firm decision to restore the popular government within short notice.
She also said that steps taken up by the past government like detection of illegal immigrants and drive against poppy plantations must continue in the interest of the people.
Inaocha also condemned the former chief minister for refusing to meet women of Apunba Manipurgi Imasing/United Mothers of Manipur while submitting memorandum on Monday.
