Imphal, September 27 2024:
Meetei Cheingak, Meitrabak observed the 73rd death anniversary of Lamyanba Hijam Irabot at Manipur Press Club Thangjing hall here on Thursday during which floral tributes were paid to the portrait of the multifaceted, revered leader.
The observance was held with by Meetei Cheingak president Nongthombam Sanahal, political activist Sapam Kangleipal Meetei, All Manipur Students' Guardian Organisation general secretary Mumti Sougrakpam and Kangleipak Minority Welfare Organisation president Md Nasir Khan as presidium members.
In his address, Sapam Kangleipal contended that the on-going conflict in the state is simply execution of the plan to wipe out the Meeteis.
While stating that delisting people who came and settled in the state after 1951 from the citizenship and withdrawal of suspension of operation (SoO) agreement signed with Kuki armed outfits would help in settling the unrest situation, he also stressed the need for the present generation to follow the path of Irabot, whose vision and activities were centred on upholding integrity of Manipur and its people.
