Impacts of drug abuse discussed

Kakching, December 20 2024: District Legal Services Authority (DLSA), Chandel, in collaboration with Chandel Network of Positive People (CNP+), organised a one-day legal awareness programme on "Issues of Drug Abuse & Its Impact in the Society" at Mahamani village community hall, Chandel district, on Friday.

The event was held under the joint aegis of Manipur State Legal Services Authority (MSLSA) and National Legal Services Authority (NLSA) .

Judicial Magistrate First Class, Moreh, Fakhrul Islam Choudhury chaired the event while District AIDS Control Officer (DACO), Chandel, Dr Chindiehniang, as a resource person, focused on the issues of drug abuse and de-addiction schemes/policies in the state.

She sensitised the participants about various governmental and non-governmental organisations in the district working to tackle drug abuse and illicit trafficking.

Additionally, she elaborated on the different types of drugs and their harmful side effects.

Fakhrul Islam Choudhury addressed the participants on the provisions for availing free services through the legal services institutions in the state.

He also highlighted the National Legal Services Authority (NALA) Schemes for Scheduled Tribes and Scheduled Castes.
