Four held with half kg heroin

A combined team of Bishnupur district police, Phougakchao Ikhai police station, Churachandpur police station and Women police station, Churachandpur arrested four people with 473 gm of suspected heroin from a house in New Boljang, Churachandpur district on Tuesday.
The accused have been identified as owner of the house Nemneikim Kipgen (47), wife of Doulet Kipgen of New Boliang, Churachandpur; Vahneikim Baite (40), wife of Ngamsei Mate of Tuibuong Zion Veng, Churachandpur; Shamal Das alias Benjamin (49), son of Shoilendro Das of Garmura village, Hailakandi district, Assam but presently living in Joujang village, Churachandpur; and Lamneithem alias Thethem Haokip (32), wife of Oinam Jimmy of D Phailien Meitei Leikai, Churachandpur.
According to police report, on Tuesday, the combined team rushed to New Boljang in Churachandpur district on receiving information that contraband drugs transaction is about to take place between two unknown parties at the residence of Nemneikim Kipgen.
In the joint operation, the Bishnupur police team with Churachandpur police station and Women Police Station, Churachandpur conducted a search of the house of the said accused around 3 pm in the presence of executive magistrate (EM)/assistant deputy commissioner (ADC), Churachandpur.
During the search, three other accused people were found staying inside the house and detained for verification.
The search team also recovered at the instance of Nemneikim Kipgen, 43 soap cases containing suspected heroin kept in a plastic sack concealed inside the room.
On weighing, the suspected heroin weighed 473 gm.
Subsequently, it was seized in the presence of EM/ADC, Churachandpur along with two mobile phones on production by Nemneikim.
On initial interrogation, the four individuals admitted that they are all involved in the contraband business and were looking for prospective buyers.
The four accused were then arrested and a case filed at Churachandpur police station for further investigation.
