State duo conferred Mahila Kishan Sanman

In acknowledgement of their contribution in developing the agriculture sector, Manipuri women farmers namely Rajkumari Binita Devi and Kangabam Indira Devi have been honoured with the Mahila Kishan Sanman in a function held at Krishna Kanta Handiqui State Open University auditorium, Khanapara, Guwahati in Assam on Tuesday.
Rajkumari Binita has been cultivating mushroom in an area of 0.39 acre of land, producing 9,000 bags annually and generating annual income of around Rs 13 lakh.
She is also recipient of multiple state level awards.
On the other-hand, Kangabam Indira has been practising integrated farming based on piggery, composting units and growing vegetable which generate income of around Rs 13 lakh annually.
She is one of the progressive farmers availing assistance from the state's agriculture department.
Meanwhile, agriculture department director N Gojendro lauded the awardees.
