Imphal, March 29 2022: Demanding removal of unqualified director in-charge of Jawaharlal Nehru Manipur Dance Academy (JNMDA), Apunba Imagi Machasing (AIMS) has submitted a memorandum to Governor La Ganesan pressing for appointing a regular director of the academy.

In the memorandum submitted on March 25, AIMS contended that the esteemed autonomous institution has deteriorated in the absence of a regular director.

It demanded appointment of a regular director as soon as possible so that JNMDA can pursue its creative pursuits and urged for following proper procedures for the recruitment and promotion of teaching and non-teaching staffers.

All forms of arbitrary decisions, contracts, and part-time appointments heading the institution should be cancelled and a qualified Guru or an expert in the field of culture and education should be appointed as director in-charge of the academy until the appointment of a regular director, the student body made it clear.

AIMS is prepared to mobilise past gurus of JNMDA, several artistes of Manipur and lovers of art and culture and take up popular forms of agitation until the demand is met, the memorandum cautioned.
