LKVA alleges encroachment by Langathel GP

Imphal, October 25 2024: Lamlong Khullen Village Authority (LKVA), which is under Machi sub-division, Tengnoupal district, has condemned alleged land encroachment by Langathel Gram Panchayat at Lamyengching, which is within the jurisdiction of Lamlong Khullen village.

In an ultimatum to Langathel GP, LKVA chairman Kh Merung and secretary D Medun alleged that Langathel GP constructed two roads under MGNREGS programme in the jurisdiction of Lamlong Khullen village, without any permission from Lamlong Khullen VA.

Such disrespectful conduct aimed at asserting dominion and depriving the rightful land owner uncalled for, it said while cautioning the VA will never compromise on ancestral land right matters.

Further declaring that construction of the said roads will be prohibited and no persons/vehicles will be allowed to pass on the said roads with effect from October 30, LKVA maintained that if the ultimatum is ignored and work taken up forcefully then Langathel GP should own responsibility for any unwanted incident.

"We appeal to all the valley based organisation leaders and authorities concerned to kindly look into the said matter.

It may bring disunity and strain the relationship among valley and'hills indigenous people in the future", the village authority emphasised.
