ST demand protest continues

Imphal, September 24 2022: Continuing its protest in pursuance of the demand for inclusion of Meetei/Meitei in the Scheduled Tribe list, Scheduled Tribe Demand Committee (STCDM) along with Yaipha Thouni Thourang and Nisha Bandh Nupi Lup, Kwakeithel Lamdeng Leikai, Awang Konjeng Leikai Nisha Bandh Nupi Lup and Haorak Konthourembi Konjeng Leikai Nisha Bandh Nupi Lup jointly staged a sit in protest at Kwakeithel Kongjeng Leikai on Saturday.

Speaking in this regard, STDCM youth wing convenor Nameirakpam Edison expressed that as the government has not taken up initiatives for inclusion of Meetei/Meitei in the ST list, they have no other choice but to launch intense form of protest from October.

Meanwhile, supporting the movement launched by STD-CM, Wangoo Nongkhong Ima Ngaikhonganbi Haraobung Club and Meira Paibi also staged sit-in protest at the club.

The protestors held placards inscribed with slogans like' Save Meetei, Save Manipur', Sent recommendation for inclusion of Meetei/Meitei in ST list' and also shouted slogans.
