PLA duo arrested; search ops conducted

Imphal, April 11 2023:
A combined team of Bishnupur district police commando and personnel of 9 AR, Kangvai post apprehended two cadres of the proscribed People's Liberation Army (PLA) during a search operation conducted in Kumbi area on Tuesday.
The two arrested cadres have been identified as Keisham Kenedy Meitei (35) s/o K Ibomcha Meitei of Utlou Keisham Leikai and Hijam Ibochouba Meitei (43) s/o late H Biren Meitei of Thoubal Athokpam Mayai Leikai.
According to a police report', based on reliable information, the combined team led by Bishnupur CDO OC Y Shaktishen Singh conducted search operation in Kumbi area from around 10 am Tuesday, during which two persons were detained at the IB-Setapur road crossing for questioning.
On further verification, Keisham Kenedy revealed that he joined PLA in 2009 through one Kuber of Loitang Khunou in Imphal West district and underwent basic military' training for four months at Nongket camp, Myanmar and was allotted army no 3205.He holds the rank of S/S 2nd Lieutenant under and works as training instructor of PLA under the command of S/S Lt Col Yaiskul at Nongket.
Further, Hijam Ibochouba also disclosed to have joined the outfit in 2000 through one Ibotomba of Kakching Khunou and completed 45 days basic military training at Khongtan camp in Chandel near Myanmar border.
His number is 316, holds the rank of S/S Captain and presently working under the command of S/S Lt Col Yaiskul at Nongket.
Accordingly, they were arrested and handed over to Kumbi police station for necessary action.
As part of the security measure, Imphal West district police commandos conducted search operation at Thangmeiband Polem Leikai, here, on Tuesday.
According to police, the commando team led by Imphal West DSP (Ops) M Riaz carried out the search from 6 to 7:20 am during which 350 individuals were verified and 70 houses including rental rooms searched.
However, there is no report of any arrest made, the source informed.
