Sit-in denounces Army chief's remark

Kakching, October 07 2024: Locals of Keirak staged a sit-in protest on Monday at Keirak Yawabung Keithel Shang, voicing strong opposition to the recent remarks by Army chief General Upendra Dwivedi.

The protest was organised by Keirak United Development Association (KUDA) and Keirak Meira Paibi Lup in response to the Army chief's denial of drone bombings by Kukis in the ongoing Manipur crisis.

Protestors held placards with slogans such as "We oppose indifferent attitude of Army Chief General Upendra Dwivedi towards Manipur crisis", "We oppose attempt to demonise Meetei", "Stop GoI's policy to suppress Meeteis", "Remove Assam Rifles from Manipur immediately", and "Resolve the crisis immediately".

The demonstration reflected growing frustration among the local community over what they see as inadequate response from the central authorities to address the situation in Manipur.

The protestors demanded immediate action to resolve the ongoing conflict and sought the removal of Assam Rifles from the state.
