Imphal, December 05 2022:
Socialist Students' Union Manipur (SSUM) has stated that despite being reminded continuously to rectify the Teachers' Education Department, mentioned as part of a recruitment notice issued by Manipur University (MU) on June 22, MU authority has not taken up any action till date.
In a statement released by its Information and Publicity secretary Salam Inaoyai-ma, SSUM said that the first point in the terms and conditions of the recruitment notification specifying that other departments would follow UGC Regulation 2018, while that of Teachers' Education mentioned in Point no 3 would follow UGC Regulation 2010 is causing lots of confusion.
The MU authority should explain the reason to the public so as to clear the confusion, the students' body demanded, while rueing the delay in rectifying the mistake despite repeated reminders.
MU has also come up with a rule allowing 5-year M Ed, which is not included under NCTE and making all eligible candidates ineligible under the NCTE guidelines of 2014 and 2017.This has raised questions on whether seeds of nepotism and corruption are being sown in MU.
The recruitment process must be carried out fairly, SSUM said while demanding that the ongoing recruitment process be halted immediately.
The release further stated that the people will no longer be silent if the authority continues to deceive the people.
MU, as a central university, must rectify the recruitment process being done in violation of the guidelines of UGC and NCTE, the Union said, while cautioning of taking up legal action if the recruitment is carried out covertly.
